Terms of use
What you can expect from me, what I ask of you, and the boundaries around the work.
Who I am
Writethought is the practice of Anjana Deshpande, MBA, LCSW. Using this site or booking any service offered through it means you accept these terms.
What is being offered, and what is not
The coaching, training, mentorship, and consultation offered here are educational and developmental in nature. They are not psychotherapy, counseling, diagnosis, or mental health treatment, and engaging them does not create a therapist-client relationship.
Although I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I do not provide psychotherapy through Writethought. If I believe therapeutic services would serve you better, I will say so and help you find them. Read the full disclaimer.
Booking, payment, and cancellation
Services are agreed individually. Prices shown on this site are the current prices, and the terms that apply to your work with me are the ones set out in the written agreement we make before starting, including the schedule, the fee, and what happens if a session is missed or the work ends early.
Where those written terms and this page differ, the written agreement governs.
What I ask of you
Turn up to sessions you have booked, or tell me in advance when you cannot. Engage honestly. Tell me if something in the work is not helping, or is affecting you in a way you did not expect.
If you are working with a therapist or other clinician, I would encourage you to tell them you are doing this work too.
Group and cohort spaces
Training cohorts and workshops involve other people, often writing about things that matter to them. What is shared in those spaces stays in them. Do not record sessions, and do not repeat or publish anything another participant has written or said without their permission.
I may end anyone's participation, without refund of sessions already delivered, if that trust is broken.
Who owns what
Your writing is yours. Anything you write in the course of this work belongs to you. I will not publish, quote, or use it without your explicit written permission.
My materials are mine. The content of this site, the curriculum, prompts, exercises, and program materials belong to Writethought. You are welcome to use them in your own reflective practice. Please do not reproduce, resell, or teach from them without asking me first.
Completing the training does not grant a licence to reproduce the curriculum.
Certification and licensure
The Certification in Poetry Therapy Foundations offered through Writethought does not confer professional licensure. It is intended for licensed or otherwise qualified professionals working within their own scopes of practice, and completing it does not authorise anyone to practise outside the scope of their existing licence or qualification.
The program is a step toward certification through the International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy. Those credentials are awarded by IFBPT under their own requirements, not by Writethought.
No guarantee of outcome
Therapeutic writing is well supported by research and people frequently find it valuable. Nothing here is a guarantee of a specific result. What you get from this work depends on a great deal that neither of us controls.
Emergencies
Writethought does not provide crisis or emergency services, and messages sent through this site are not monitored in real time. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911.
This website
I keep this site accurate and available, but I do not guarantee it will be free of errors or always reachable. Links to other sites, including IFBPT, are provided for convenience; I am not responsible for their content.
Privacy
How I handle what you send me is set out in the privacy policy.
Changes
If these terms change, the date below changes with them. The terms in force when you booked are the ones that apply to that work.
